DESCRIPTION

The tutorial guide explains how to create a workspace for fictional company Clearwater Wholesalers and demonstrates how to setup Products or Item Codes that can be inventoried. 
During the tutorial an example set of 
SuppliersCustomersItems (Products)Users and Locations will be created to show how Inventory Controller XE is typically used for stock tracking.

STEPS 

Launch Inventory Controller XE by double-clicking on the desktop short cut or by using the start menu option and selecting Datapel Inventory Controller XE. A login screen should appear as shown and requires your username and password to proceed.

Use the following credentials for first time log in :
Username: superuser  
Password: -blank- (do not enter any characters)

You will be prompted for an Activation Key however you can Continue Trial in order to setup your Workspace. To obtain an Activation Key you must purchase a serial number and register your product with Datapel Systems. If you wish to trial the program choose Continue Trial…

The product splash screen will now display as it prepares to launch for the first time.

During installation the program and data folders were set to default C:\Program Files\Datapel Inventory Controller folders. If you accepted defaults you can simply confirm workspace setup by ticking each box as highlighted in the RED HIGHLIGHT below then clicking Continue…

If you modified installation settings you may need to edit the WORKSPACE.XML file which contains the paths of the workspace database and other data folders used to store audit information and document attachments.

Enter your company details as shown in the example below. These can be updated in the system preferences after initial workspace creation. You must enter a Company filename as a minimum - then press Continue…

You can choose Preferences to review the System Wide default settings and make changes now that will be applied to all new Users created in this workspace. Once configured you may also make an initial workspace Backup that can be restored once your ready to GoLive…

Workspace configuration is now complete. A brief checklist is shown indicating the steps you need to take in order to track your inventory items using Inventory Controller XE.

At the login prompt enter the Username: superuser and press enter or click Ok to login. The Inventory Controller Explorer window will open - if prompted for an Activation Key click Continue Trial…

The Inventory Controller Workspace is now ready to use!
From now on when Inventory Controller XE starts up it will automatically connect to this Workspace and open the Inventory Explorer form.
